Across the country, 340B hospitals serving a disproportionate share of low-income patients earned a record $44 billion from the program in 2022, but spent only $18.5 billion on charity care in the most recent fiscal year. Here in New Jersey, our state’s 340B hospitals make 1.4 times more in profits from the program than they spend on charity care.
